About Peter Win

With a passion for pioneering new industries and a drive to get projects moving forward, fast, I’ve been involved in the start-up and growth of several local and international businesses. My breadth and depth of business experience ranges from developing and distributing niche seafood products across Asia Pacific, to managing large-scale energy projects around the world. These experiences have given me a broad knowledge base about what it takes to make a company work effectively and successfully. My most significant experience has been in New Zealand’s seafood industry, where I’ve worked for over 30 years. With an affinity for fishing and the sea, and multilevel experience covering both hands-on and senior management roles, I know the industry inside-out. In 2016, I identified an opportunity to process and distribute ling maw into Asia, and with an interest in developing value-added products, I co-founded New Zealand Coastal Seafoods. I’m now also at the forefront of pioneering the medical cannabis industry in New Zealand. After personally experiencing how the industry has helped build better communities overseas, I’m motivated by a strong belief regarding the social wellbeing and health benefits for the wider community. New Zealand’s recent law changes provided an opportunity to make a medicinal cannabis business commercial, and in 2018, I co-founded Medical Kiwi. My early career included working in some of the most technically advanced industries, reaching senior levels of management in large-scale energy projects in Norway, Nigeria and China, and the marine engineering industry in New Zealand. Cooking is another passion of mine, fueled by my love of seafood. This led me into business, driven by my passion for sharing New Zealand’s premium seafood with the world.
