About Peter Wood

With comprehensive industry experience in education, I am adaptable to the day-to-day challenges of a fast-paced environment and am able to build strong relationships with students, carers, colleagues, and external agencies to ensure the highest quality of learning takes place in my department. I am experienced in managing, working with, and liaising with senior stakeholders and have sat on the Governing Board of the academy developing policy at the executive level, and dealing with sensitive issues and influencing policy to achieve improved outcomes. In my capacity as trade union workplace representative I have mediated between employee and employer, advised on HR issues, and resolved conflict and issues as they arise. I have maintained a positive working relationship with all stakeholders in this role and have been able to use this to resolve issues at the informal level on most occasions. I have line management responsibility for a core group of departmental staff and am responsible for setting targets each year, ensuring that the targets are manageable and achievable, providing training to facilitate success in this area. I am consulted, and advise on, policy changes at the organisational level and use my judgement to ensure the the changes are fair to the employee while allowing the organisation to reach its goals. I am experienced in senior stakeholder engagement and have worked with a wide range or senior leaders in addition to outside agencies.I have developed resources for online learning and have adapted existing resources for use in this format. I have vast experience in receiving and conveying complex information to a range of audiences from students, colleagues and recent graduates entering the teaching profession, for whom I am a certified mentor.
