About Peter Woods

I have served within three Police Forces with 30 years service. The Metropolitan Police Service, Greater Manchester Police and currently within the British Transport Police. I have been a Sergeant for around half of my service. I am dedicated to my role, those I work for and with to ensure all including the public get the best outcome. My service has been predominantly first response as a Constable and Sergeant. I have performed public order duties in both ranks and often as a Acting Inspector within my Forces and also in Northern Ireland and Scotland. I have had posting to problem solving Teams in both ranks such as Crime Squad, Street Crime, Mobile Surveillance. I have also worked closely with many stakeholders in the UK and Globally. I am currently leading a North West Disruption Team embedded within Network Rail which tackles disruption to services on their critical national infrastructure. Leadership – qualified leader and manager with operational credibility in front-line policing, operational control and project management; role models through personal behaviour and achievements e.g. leading teams policing Notting Hill Carnival, New Year’s Eve, Royal and State events in Northern Ireland and Scotland; understands staff needs; respects race and diversity. Team working – committed team leader, team player and manager who leads and motivates all in achieving performance targets and customer satisfaction; role models and inspires in equal parts and generous in sharing own considerable expertise and knowledge. Relationship building – proven track record in creating and maintaining productive partnerships with partners; i.e. working with UK and Global Event Companies on the Wembley Park Footprint deploying to ticket tout and intellectual property offences; equally adept at ground level relationship growth; professional and personal integrity widely respected. Communication – adept at speaking and liaising with all audiences; able to engage partners and foster positive forward-looking progress including representing police at Security Advisory Group meetings; high skills levels in briefings and presentations; plausible, convincing and engaging. Problem solving – deals with problematic incidents finding solutions; possesses an analytic mind with lateral thinking skills aimed at the crux of a complex issue, i.e. utilising covert tactics to make arrests for metal theft costing £100K+ in disruption; utilises National Decision Making Model. I did have a break in service running ultimately a sustainable renewable sales and retro fit solutions company.
