I meet the NAS 410 standard for level 2 PT and NAS 410 Level 1 ET, UT, and MT with a secret clearance. I am appointed NDT Evaluator by The National Guard Bureau and I service thirty-four facilities within a fourteen state region, testing approximately sixty nondestructive inspectors by way of hands-on annual proficiency evaluations. Over the past eight years, while working in Army Aviation Maintenance, I have served as NDT Coordinator, NDT Evaluator and Powertrain Shop Supervisor. I manage a 1,420 sq ft NDI lab utilizing ET, UT, MT, and PT methods while conducting daily, weekly and monthly process control checks. I perform hundreds of nondestrucitve inspections each year. In this role I have experience working with a variety of large teams within our aerospace community. These teams include but are not limited to painters applying nonconductive coatings and corrosion preventative compounds on UH-60 and CH-47 aircraft, a machine shop and weld shop who fabricates special tools and parts according to detailed drawings and blueprints, avionics and aircraft systems such as sheet metal, engine, hydraulics and powertrain shops all requiring NDT on a regular basis. I record and document inspection and test results for our engineer team, maintain NDT equipment, analyzing manufacturing requirements for our materials in accordance with ASTM and AMS standards, and document and record in compliance with FAA and OSHA regulations. When I am not evaluating inspectors or inspecting aircraft components, I am developing practical training aids for lower level NDT personnel on a variety of materials such as titanium, steel, and heat treated aluminum, both painted and non-painted ferromagnetic and non-ferrous metals and composites. I am focused on developing situational based training to determine primary and secondary NDT methods by examining capabilities and limitations of each method. My emphasis is on increasing the probability of detection (POD) within NDT programs.
