About Petra Debusscher

Dr. Petra Debusscher is an expert on gender mainstreaming and inclusion in EU policies. She has 15+ years of professional experience on gender issues in EU policies in the framework of four grant-awarded (post)doctoral research projects and numerous consultancy assignments. She holds a PhD in EU Studies (Ghent University 2010) on the topic ‘Gender mainstreaming in EU development policy’. Petra has published over 50 articles, book chapters and reports on gender in EU policy and is experienced as a trainer, lecturer, expert monitor and (academic) evaluator. She has worked as an independent gender expert for the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), the Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO), the Research Executive Agency (REA), the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT), the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME), the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers (DG JUST) and the European Parliament’s FEMM committee. Her policy areas of expertise include gender/diversity mainstreaming in- EU Policies - Development Cooperation and External Policy - Innovation and Technology - Research, Higher Education Policy and the European Research Area (ERA).
