About Petra Nass

Let's change the world! I am an optimist, a scientist, and I truly believe that each of us has the power to change the world, so that we all can live in a better, cleaner, more sustainable world. After finishing school, I studied Physics and I did my Ph.D. degree in Physics/Astrophysics. I started my career with an European science organization (the European Southern Observatory ESO) and as an Operations Support Scientist, I interacted with different groups of internal and external users and helped them understand each other and I was actively involved to build and improve software solutions. I have experience in programming in e.g. C, PHP, SQL databases, HTML, content management systems. Apart from that I served as member in different committees and working groups across departments in the areas IT, safety, health, environment, HR. I am the Founder of the “Little Shop of Science” (2012), a private educational center aimed at teaching science, maths, and languages and promoting general science to a broader audience. Since my early childhood I have a strong passion for science, technology, education, and the environment that I want to share. I am also the founder of “Women in Charge” (2014), an initiative to promote electric mobility, while creating awareness of environmental issues. Ich bin Optimistin, Wissenschaftlerin und ich bin zutiefst überzeugt, dass jede/r von uns dazu beitragen kann, die Welt besser und nachhaltiger zu machen. In Beruf wie Ehrenamt konnte ich immer sehr gut andere Menschen motivieren. Mein berufliches wie auch privates Umfeld ist international und mehrsprachig. Das Arbeiten und Koordinieren im Team liegt mir, ebenso wie strategisches Denken und Organisation. Ich bin es gewohnt, selbständig zu arbeiten und eigene Ideen zu entwickeln. Es fällt mir leicht, komplexe Sachverhalte zu erfassen, zu analysieren und diese so darstellen, dass sie für unterschiedliches Publikum verständlich sind. Ich kann sehr gut mit Menschen sprechen, debattieren und verhandeln sowie Probleme aus anderen Perspektiven betrachten und so sinnvolle Lösungen finden.
