About Peyton Ming

I am an Asian American full-time undergraduate student at Chapman University pursuing a degree in Integrated Educational Studies (IES) with a minor in Sociology. I am expected to graduate in the Spring of 2024. I have also been on the Provost List every semester since 2020.After obtaining my B.A, I hope to attend a graduate program in southern California for social work. I would then like to go on to become a licensed clinical social worker and practice psychotherapy. I am also interested in working in disaster relief to aid others in varying circumstances.I hope to further my experiences and connections to others to help inform my therapy practice and support others professionally and personally. I believe in exposing myself to different perspectives will only be beneficial to my life and career, so I am always open to learning about varying cultures to inform my decision-making.I have many experiences in regard to helping others which currently include being a Lead Resident Advisor at Chapman University and interning at Higher Ground with an MSW mentor. Through these experiences, I have learned to lead with empathy and increased my critical thinking skills when problem-solving by examining different strengths and conflict styles of individuals.In addition, I am a spoken word poet focusing on topics of mental health and self-reflection. I have performed at open mics and have been invited to perform at Tony award winner Poetri Smith's monthly event. To complement my poems, I have created multiple time-based media projects of me performing my poetry.
