About Phil Adlam

Phil Adlam, is an experienced MD & CTO, thought leader, engineer and educator in live experience research & technology. In 2004 Adlam completed a 4yr Masters Degree at The University of York in Electronic Engineering & Music Technology Systems. Over the next 18 years he developed globally applied technologies used in the entertainment industry from advanced LED display technologies to arena scale amplification and speaker systems, founding a number of successful spin off businesses, both in manufacture, product development and event production, including touring global productions from Wembley London, Tokyo, Singapore, Melbourne and many more. He is currently CTO at Production Park and Head of XPLOR, leading on technology development for the future of live experience. Recent accomplishments include establishing the UK’s first northern Virtual Production studio, real-time AI applications, audio simulation environments and ‘at scale’ metadata capture & acquisition systems. Adlam is passionate about collaboration and bridging the gap between academia and industry, co-founding XRC (XPLOR Research Community) to create new opportunities for the creative industry to innovate for the future and maintain the UK’s position on the global creative technology stage. As well as his many industry accomplishments Adlam enjoys an active role in the academic community, primarily as CTO for CoStar LiveLAB (UK Government & AHRC Live Experience Research Centre) and a regular contributor to the Academy of Live Technology - educating the future generations. Adlam is considered by many to be a thought leader, able to offer a unique vantage point on convergent creative technologies with significant breadth and depth of expertise across the stage, screen and simulation creative industry sectors.
