Phil is a multi-talented freelancer with numerous skills, qualifications and experience across many sectors of the industry: Sustainability Lead / Eco Consultant, Health & Safety Advisor, Medic, Location Manager and Expedition Leader/ Fixer. Phil is a former Royal Marines Commando and Wildlife Crime and Environment Officer, with more than 30 years' professional experience in the outdoor and sustainability sectors. An expert in adventure, location finding, regenerative travel, conservation and environment, Phil has carved a niche in sustainability consultation and fixing for expedition organisations, scientific research trips, and remote film and TV shoots. As these sectors evolve towards environmentally friendly practices, Phil collaborates with teams to facilitate their transition into new, sustainable production and delivery methods, whether on location, in studio or using Virtual Production. A staunch wildlife and environmental conservationist, Phil's commitment has earned awards from leading organisations such as the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), Partnership for Action Against Wildlife Crime (PAW), and both the Scottish and UK Governments. His status as a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society reflects his enduring dedication to the outdoors and responsible exploration. Phil has organised and led numerous expeditions and conservation projects globally for diverse teams on expeditions worldwide. He also specialises in designing and implementing wilderness-based personal and social development programmes, with a focus on assisting disengaged and marginalised individuals. Phil has held national executive roles at both the Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres (AHOEC) and the Institute of Outdoor Learning (IOL), where he advocated for Outdoor Learning and Wilderness Therapeutic principles. In addition to his extensive professional and outdoor qualifications, Phil is a certified Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Medic and Health & Safety Advisor. His wealth of experience spans extreme desert, arctic, and jungle environments, acquired through military service and over ten years on Mountain Rescue Teams in Scotland. Phil now offers his practical wilderness medical and safety skills to further safeguard the film, TV and expedition crews to which he provides consultancy and expedition expertise.
