About Phil Kempton

I started at a family owned business that dealt strictly with rewinding and converting. After applying to Atlantic Packaging, my skills were set to task. New Forest Paper Mills (a division of A.P.) began operations in the liner board market. I was fortunate enough to get on the team that first started that power house. Hired as a 3rd hand (winder man), I was then trained as a Back tender shortly after. The Atlantic Packaging Whitby site finally announced that a rebuild and convert to liner board was happening and I knew I had to be a part of that team. With a mix of old newsprint hires, some New Forest hires, and other Atlantic company hires, the large team of expertise was truly put to test. The long hours and challenging days have come as the mill officially started as of May 11, 2013. The amount of pride and accomplishment was overwhelming as the sheet was put on the reel. Now in full production, we are making our stance on the packaging industry and are not looking back! It has to be a great sign when you love going into work almost as much as going home after shift.almost! Looking forward to see what the future has in store. Phil
