Typical Project Management Responsibilities 1995 – 2004 Overseas Contract. Field Project Manager based in Nairobi for a turnkey communications system for the Kenya Police Project. Primary responsibility to manage the day to day activities of the installation and commissioning teams, sub contractors and be the point of contact for liaison for the Kenya Police management and technical staff. Responsible for all aspect of managing the project including local finance, site civil construction, implementation of installation and commissioning of country wide radio communication and data network. Management of engineering teams, maintenance team, local sub contractors, Landrover vehicle fleet and equipment delivery logistics. Responsible for site safety, employee and local personal safety, health welfare and security including arranging suitable security for teams working in insecure locations. Ensuring suitability of expatriate accommodation in terms of security and location. Responsible for stock control of all shipments from UK into warehouse. Planning and ordering site installation materials. Setting and attending regular project meetings with customer including the Commissioner of Police. Writing minutes of meetings and regular progress reports. Point of contact for sub contractor suppliers i.e. Alcatel & Barrett providing in territory training courses for Kenya Police Technicians. Responsible for arranging venues and course accommodation. Outline of system elements managed. In excess of 250 radio sites linked into a network through out the country both in remote rural and urban areas with the majority of sites visited personally. Technical elements of the system comprising broadband 1500Mhz point to point links, narrow band VHF links, command and control centers. VHF & UHF mobile and portable area coverage systems. Data system, digital networked exchanges, digital wireless loop telephony systems, HF systems VHF & UHF mobiles and portables.
