Phil Matero is the Founder and Executive Director of the YouthBuild Charter School of California, a California charter school designed to meet the needs of youth enrolled in YouthBuild programs. He is also a Senior Consultant for YouthBuild USA and YouthBuild International, working on a variety of projects to build increased capacity and effectiveness at YouthBuild programs in the US, and to develop new programs abroad. Prior to YouthBuild, Phil served as Deputy Director of the LA Conservation Corps, completing nearly 17 years there in December of 2007. He is the Co-Founder and Board President of the Los Angeles Education Corps, a charter school that provides an effective alternative for youth who have not fared well in the traditional education system.
