Hi! I'm Phil — I run a financial media company, write a daily markets newsletter, host my own show, publish stock picks each Sunday, and produce events for media professionals in NYC. I spent three years at Business Insider, where I built one of the most-read finance newsletters in media, published a book and won multiple overseas fellowships, including a Fulbright. At the start of 2024, I quit my job to co-found Opening Bell Daily, a financial media company that delivers an industry-leading data newsletter covering the stock market and economy. Our work is syndicated by Inc. Magazine and published on Bloomberg Terminals, reaching half a million investors, executives and decision-makers on any given day. I'm also the founder of Journalists Club, a community for media professionals in NYC. I host intimate dinners, large-scale workshops and networking events where reporters and editors come together to build relationships, land jobs and sharpen their craft. Over 300 journalists have attended an event. Many have found jobs through this network. My reporting has appeared in Fortune, Morning Brew, BuzzFeed News, Yahoo Finance, and Inc. Magazine, among other outlets. I've also published fiction in literary magazines and blog extensively about careers, media, and brand-building and startups. I'm a frequent guest and speaker across news channels, panels, podcasts and events. A California native now based in NYC, I’ve also lived in Hong Kong, Spain, and Germany, and have traveled extensively across Europe and Asia.
