About Phil Turner

As an experienced oncologist trained in the UK, I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) and continue to practice clinically at the Royal Surrey Hospital, a leading UK oncology center. My extensive clinical expertise spans radiotherapy—including brachytherapy, Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR), and MR-Linac SABR—alongside chemotherapy and immunotherapy.I have a strong background in leadership and innovation within oncology. I co-chaired the West London, Surrey, and Sussex Radiotherapy Operational Delivery Network, an NHS England initiative uniting four major radiotherapy providers in South East England to enhance and streamline services for the five million people served by the network. At the Royal Surrey Hospital, I led the Oncology R&D department, overseeing a diverse portfolio of over 30 cancer trials and leading a team of 15 research professionals.My research career is marked by the design and leadership of first-in-man trials of molecular radiotherapy agents combined with other drugs and external beam radiotherapy (EBRT). My publication record includes works focusing on the clinical application of molecular radiotherapy, both as a standalone treatment and in combination with other agents. Additionally I have published on translational elements of the field including imaging, conventional dosimetry, and biological markers of dosimetry used in molecular radiotherapy.In 2024, I transitioned from full-time clinical practice to a role as a pharmaceutical professional, where I am excited to help drive molecular radiotherapy research within the pharma sector. My dual roles in clinical practice and pharmaceutical leadership allow me to contribute uniquely to the advancement of oncology. Outside of work, I am a former officer in the Royal Naval Reserve and keen hockey player, I am passionate about encouraging LGBTQ inclusion in competitive sport.
