About Phil Watt

With over 30 years of experience in delivering large-scale software engineering, data engineering, analytics, infrastructure, and business/technology governance solutions, I am a seasoned CTO who thrives in solving complex and challenging problems for diverse organisations. I founded my startup, DataJPS, to build a new kind of data infrastructure that gives visibility and traceability to all of your data assets. It does this at the micro level, across the enterprise, automatically. We have an MVP and filed an international PTC patent application recently to protect the underlying technology innovation. My core competencies include strategy development, programme / business process recovery, and leading large scale software engineering. I run my teams with a strong focus on data, people, process, and technology. I have successfully designed and implemented data-driven solutions for various sectors including CME, public sector, and financial services, in Western Europe and South Pacific. My notable successes include- authoring and executing the technology pillar of the Data Reform Strategy for the Victorian State Government- developing a novel methodology to discover and visualise data relationships across the enterprise (I’m the named inventor in the above PTC application…)- defining, securing funds for, and executing a strategic information architecture programme to improve the data risk management profile and developer productivity at a large, multi-national financial institution.
