About Phil Weaver

With over 34 years of experience in both ministry and education, I believe my skill set provides a unique blend to the pastoral ministry within the local church and the classroom. I have maintained a ministry of both preaching and teaching for three decades. I have served and preached in a variety of settings, from contemporary to more traditional venues. I relate well to individuals of all ages and from all walks of life. I enjoy meeting the caring needs that arise among my congregation or my students and feel that the Lord has blessed me with the compassion, administrative ability, and mediation skills necessary to minister, lead, and teach effectively. I also have had the responsibility of supervising and overseeing budgetary matters for multi-staff organizations. In addition to leading churches of various sizes, I have had the privilege to teach students at many different levels, from secondary to college and seminary. The subject matter I have taught has ranged from various language arts and communication courses to biblical studies and practical ministry courses. I also served as the director of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary State Prison Extension in Buford, Georgia. My responsibilities included meeting the administrative, teaching, and pastoral/counseling needs for the inmate students and others in the prison setting. I completed the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD in preaching w/minor in evangelism), Doctor of Ministry (DMin in pastoral ministries), Master of Theology (ThM), and Master of Divinity (MDiv) degrees at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I completed my undergraduate degree (BS) in language arts education at Troy University in Alabama. My wife, Kim, is a tremendous asset to my ministry. She has a servant’s heart and enjoys meeting the needs of others within both the church and the community. My daughter is married to a US Army chaplain. They have five children. My son and his wife live in Louisiana, where he works as a computer programmer.
