Freelance expedition leader and guide on yacht, ship and land-based expeditions to the Antarctic and Arctic. Many years experience as a field guide, power-boat handler, firearm handler, photographer and lecturer in the Antarctic, Arctic and Himalaya. Extensive experience of roped mountain and glacier travel in remote areas, leading and training groups in safe glacier travel and rescue skills. ANTARCTIC EXPERIENCE (including South Georgia, Deep Field, Tierra del Fuego and Falkland Islands)(updated 2020): 120 Antarctic peaks climbed, 800+ days skiing, 90+ expeditions (1900+ field days), including 21 yacht-based expeditions and 3 seasons and 2 winters as BAS Field Guide. ARCTIC EXPERIENCE (updated 2020): 102 expeditions, specialising in ski, hiking and wildlife expeditions in West and East Greenland and Svalbard. Highly experienced in deep-ocean sailing in order to reach remote mountainous areas; RYA Powerboat 2 certified, STCW certified, and experienced trainer in safe RIB operations in remote polar locations. Skilled and experienced in guiding and managing safe operations amongst potentially dangerous wildlife, including polar bears. Assessor and a founder member of the Polar Tourism Guides Association. PhD in biology at Imperial College London, science support and field safety of scientists in the Antarctic and Arctic. Available as expedition leader, field guide and safety trainer/consultant for expedition ships, yachts and shore-based programmes.
