About Philip Barket

Some people instinctively know the most effective way to communicate an idea, provide a clear direction to follow, and promote growth in every which way. I am one of those people. A professional designer of over 18 years, I have been giving the residents of eastern PA endless forms of media to entice and captivate via identities, print pieces, and web design all while educating future designers and artists at the college level to continue the chain of knowledge passed down to me. Since childhood I’ve been obsessed with design and form as evident in artwork from grade school art shows and in sketchbooks dating back to the early 1990s. I spent years honing my skills at a young age through simple creative curiosity and later on in a well structured high school art program no longer seen in today’s education curriculum. When the time came, I moved to obtain my BFA in Fine Art from Marywood University and never looked back. My efforts in creative solutions have garnered many accolades over the years. These included multiple group and solo shows of my professional work and projects created to keep my skills fresh and up-to-date. I’ve experimented with, and shown the finished products of traditional 1900s era typesetting and letterpress printing using 1950s wooden and metal type and hand pulled presses. In February of 2015 I was awarded an American Advertising Federation Gold Addy award for a piece designed for First Friday Scranton. Today, a seasoned and experienced Art Director with agencies stretching from one end of PA to the other I look forward to new opportunities in my field, and the potential to spread my love of art and design throughout new communities.
