About Philip Cornish

I am a Chair, Board Member, General Manager and Independent Management Consultant with over twenty years of board level experience across the commercial, government and not for profit sectors with particular experience in the health and community services industries. I also have been providing interim management functions. At board level highlights include being the Chair of Travellers Aid Australia People and Services Committee and a Board Member of the Rotary Club of Melbourne contributing to strategic management and development. I also been the Chair of the Patient Care Ethics Committee at Caulfield within Alfred Health and as the Chair of the local Primary Care Partnerships there. I am a member of the Governance and Risk Committee of the Mission to Seafarers board. I am currently an Independent Management Consultant providing expert strategic planning and governance advice alongside the delivery of professional services. Concurrently I was General Manager of Chisholm Institute, where I managed the delivery of health and community services educational programs. As the Director of Watto Purrunna, Aboriginal Primary Health, I was instrumental in implementing the Aboriginal Advisory Board and expanding the services in the metropolitan region. Prior to this I was the General Manager of the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre where I improved efficiency through a range of strategies, this resulted in the capacity to service 25% more patients in a year and reduced the length of stay across the campus on an average by twenty to thirty days for diagnostic categories. I also acting as CEO of Centacare where I was appointed to an advisory group to give advice to the Victorian Minister of Community Services on working with the refugee community. I have a Bachelor of Social Work, a Bachelor of Psychology, a Master of Business Administration, a Post Grad Dip Health Law, a Certificate of Governance and Risk Management and I have completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors course.
