About Philip Dye

I have been in the IT industry for 15 years - started out working in computer labs in college, then moved up from working on the IT support side to an engineer role and eventually into the management/engineer role I am in now. Constantly learning and growing is super important to me, and I think that this has shaped my career up to this point. I am a "Jack-of-all-trades" kind of guy, meaning I have experience in many facets of IT, and I am not necessarily a "specialist". Some may feel that this is a negative thing, but I feel that it gives me a bigger picture of how things work together across all of the different areas in IT. That bigger picture also extends outside of IT, because the end-user experience that we provide is always top-of-mind, and I strive to make sure that our customers have the tools they need to succeed. If I had to come up with what my "specialty" is, however, I would say that I am great at taking companies with a lacking or non-existent IT security posture and improving it to the point that it becomes GREAT! This might include creating or updating security policies, implementing endpoint management and security systems, creating or improving processes and working to automate them, etc. I have loved being a manager and leading my team. I make sure that my direct reports feel that their opinion matters and I truly want them to succeed. My employees growth and learning is as important to me as my own, and I try to make sure they never feel "stuck" in their careers. If they are succeeding, then I am also succeeding as a manager. Some other random items: I have been the "Mac guy" at every place I have worked - not because I didn't know Windows, but because I have been the most knowledgable about Macs. I have also been the A/V and conference room expert at several places. I have supported many large events across the world, and even now I am the one that ensures our all-hands company meetings run well. I'm not afraid of or above doing some manual labor. In summary, I am a skilled and knowledgable guy that has experience in many areas of IT, and I definitely don't take myself too seriously!
