Recently I was given the opportunity to intern at RFPIO. While there I was able to collaborate with my fellow intern and Senior Marketing manager on implementing designs for solutions to foster greater conversions on the website. I analyzed website performance using data from Google Analytics and Hotjar and presented suggestions on improvements to the team. Following front end best practices, we were able to develop 3 landing pages. I also designed a framework for a feature on the test website and passed along step-by-step instructions on how to replicate the feature easily so they can add it to existing website as it grows. In addition I got experience working with WordPress, I have since decided to self teach myself WordPress theme development. While at Epicodus I had a lot of hands on experience with modern JavaScript libraries such as React/Redux and Angular and testing using Karma/Jasmine. I also got a strong understanding of design and UX sensibilities using current CSS best practices and responsive design. Our studies also included an understanding of the entire development process including design, development, and deployment. In my previous background as a dispatcher I was also able to develop strong analytical and problem solving skills. For example, I developed my own system for creating efficient and well organized schedules for each technician. This allowed me to communicate quickly with my team about the status of the schedule either verbally or through email. Often emergency calls would come in during the day, although this may seem like a high pressure situation, it was the same as any other call for me. I would look at the schedule and prioritize the current jobs remaining. I would then move the tickets around to make sure we provided a quick turnaround for the emergency call. Because of my organizational and time management skills we were able to provide a better customer experience.
