Director of Engineering at Indeed (Japan) Indeed is the world’s largest job site, with over 250 million unique visitors each month. Philip led more than a dozen engineering teams (200+ developers) in Indeed’s Japan organization, successfully driving multiple large-scale projects over a 6-year tenure. Ask if you want to know more! Cofounder & Tech Lead of Find a Doc (Japan) Co-founded FindADoc.jp, an open-source, nonprofit platform that has helped hundreds of thousands of people in Japan find COVID-19 vaccine slots and other healthcare services. What started as a grassroots project in mid-2021 rapidly grew from just 2 clinics to information on 70+ clinics in 19 languages. Within weeks it was used by over people to secure vaccinations, and it continued to expand its impact thereafter. Philip built and mentored a volunteer developer community of 25+ contributors for this project, several of whom landed jobs thanks to the skills and experience gained—a testament to his leadership and talent-development skills. Entrepreneurial & Startup Leadership Beyond his corporate role, Philip has hands-on startup experience. He served as CTO of a successful startup (prior to moving to Japan), where he led the development of large projects and drove early success. This venture was on a strong trajectory; Philip’s technical leadership was instrumental in its growth. He ultimately transitioned out of that role to focus on his move to Japan and his position at Indeed, but the experience honed his ability to wear multiple hats and navigate the fast-paced startup environment.
