Philip Gordon, PhD, is a cornerstone of Altman Advisors. As both an Advisor and Director of Communication, he plays a vital role within the Asset Management and Family Office Groups. His responsibilities include managing client relationships, producing market updates, documenting asset management decisions, and overseeing the firm’s external communication. Since 2020, he has been the principal author of the firm’s Quarterly Market Commentary, continuing the legacy of founders Ben and Shelly Altman. Formerly Associate Professor and Chair of Communication at Utah Valley University, “the real Dr. Phil” is also an accomplished documentary filmmaker, writer, and public speaker. A scholar of Cultural Studies, Phil has a deep understanding of the power of storytelling to create meanings, shape perceptions, and organize experiences. He often expresses the idea that telling better stories is the key to seeing better possibilities and acting to bring them about. He utilizes that perspective and his unique communication skillset to help clients envision and achieve more fulfilling outcomes in their lives. Dr. Phil is pivotal to Altman Advisors’ new Friends in Israel Partnership. As a key representative of the firm, his dual roles in both Asset Management and Family Office Groups make him ideally suited to address new inquiries and ensure the partnership’s success. On a personal note, Phil is a loving companion to his partner, Kamala, a supporter of her two children, a devoted “dog dad” to Moonshine, and a caring son who relocated to Chicago to support his aging mother.
