Background
About Philip Lavretsky
I am interested in issues dealing with wildlife conservation and specifically applying genetic techniques to solve such issues. Please email me for a C.V. for a more specific list of genetic and population assessment techniques as well as publications, presentations, awards, funding, etc. My current project is focused on the Mallard Complex comprised of 13 recently radiated mallard-like taxa found around the world. Research questions include phylogenetic and evolutionary relationships, hybridization loads, including assigning genetic differences to plumage characteristics of pure and hybrid individuals. During my time i have been able to establish worldwide collaboratings including coordinating scientific collection trips in North America, Mexico, and Africa with voucher specimens now being housed in American Museum of Natural History and UC-Davis Museum of Wildlife Fish Biology.
