About Philip Morris

My expertise lies primarily in leveraging data to drive decisions, enhance performance and deliver strategic outcomes, collaborating with senior leaders to advocate and demonstrate the role that data can play in achieving success whilst creating a compelling narrative to secure advocacy and encourage data literacy. My early career at RSA Insurance saw me evolve from a skilled data practitioner to a leader shaping Business Intelligence (BI) strategy. Transitioning to Capita, I established the Insight & Intelligence Unit for the Army recruiting contract, leading a team in analysing and reporting both operational and commercial performance. Widening my remit to incorporate operational planning, I led a joint civilian and military team in the analysis, integration and utilisation of disparate data to provide reporting and insight that was critical to enabling the operation, particularly around the attraction, engagement and nurturing of potential recruits. In subsequent roles, I further applied my financial services experience, sponsoring the digital transformation of operational delivery and commercial performance management in the Defence Fire & Rescue Project. The result was a portfolio of Power BI reports and analytics products, accelerating stakeholder understanding and facilitating evidence-based decisions through data visualisation. My responsibilities expanded to oversee data capabilities for Capita's primary contracts with the MOD, eventually leading equivalent teams for all public sector contracts under a standardised shared service model. Passionate about data literacy, I played a key role in shaping and advocating Capita’s Data Academy, offering employees opportunities for data-related apprenticeships. Concurrently, my service as an officer in the Army Reserve since 2002 provided a unique leadership perspective, including leading soldiers on operations and commanding an Army Reserve sub-unit.
