Father of 3, looking to connect with and follow others who treat kids like people. I've noticed there's a lot of parent advice forums around. One parents advises you to be harder on your kids. Another wants you to praise them and reward them constantly. Neither approach feels great. I'm a former reluctant learner, turned elementary teacher, turned homeschooling father. After graduating high school with a GPA of 2.2 and then shifting often between jobs I pursued a teaching degree at the age of 26 and worked to earn a spot on the Dean’s List each semester. Five years of teaching led me to realize the timeline imposed on students was incongruent with the way learning most often happens. My experiences drove me to explore learning methods which honor the learner, the teacher, and learning itself, a pursuit that still drives me today.
