About Philip Perry

I currently work at the School of Computing at Ulster University in the broad field of telecommunications. I am also a founder of Pilot Photonics - we develop optical wavelength comb sources that can generate the carriers for optical communications links and also find applications in optical sensing. For many years I was an independent consultant as a radio engineer with clients that included both equipment manufacturers and network operators in several countries. I also consulted to universities on a range of topics including IP management, research management and commercialisation of research. I have academic experience in developing and delivering courses for undergraduate, postgraduate and industrial audiences. I also worked as a lecturer in the School of Electronic Engineering at DCU, On the industrial side, I have held a wide range of positions from circuit and system design to business development and CEO.
