About Philipp Schnell

Philipp Schnell is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Social Scientist based in Vienna and Salzburg. In recent years he has realised a city-sponsored research project on the life-worlds of homeless people in Vienna, multiple arts-based research projects in the field of urban studies and a number of artistic interventions that straddle the line between contemporary art and urbanism. He works as a lecturer for Research Design and Qualitative Research Methods and successfully started his own company for Research Coaching and Implementation. Philipp is fluent in English and German and has a strong command of both French and Spanish. He is very well versed in both qualitative and quantitative research techniques, specialising in research design and operationalization strategies. Currently, Philipp works as a Postdoctoral Researcher on a feasibility study for the Austrian Ministry of Social Affairs, aiming at comprehensively quantifying homeless data in Austria. Also, he holds the position of editor of UXUC - User Experience and Urban Creativity Journal in Lisbon, creating a multidisciplinary publication for authors from multiple research fields in the arts and applied sciences. Always on the hunt for new inspirations and new means for transforming perception into knowledge, Philipp seeks to transcend the limitations of traditional academic methods to give a wholesome, multidisciplinary account of what it means to live in today's urban spaces and beyond.
