About Philippa Cunniff

I am a Partner and Head of Family Law at Gilson Gray. As a dual-qualified lawyer, I am qualified to practise in England and Wales as well as Scotland. I specialise in Family Law and deal with a wide range of issues arising from relationship breakdown. I have particular expertise in complex jurisdictional issues and in the resolution of financial disputes. I have extensive experience in both negotiation and litigation. I deal regularly with cases with an international dimension and have worked with fellow lawyers in jurisdictions around the world. I am a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. I am experienced in wealth protection issues and regularly act in the negotiation and preparation of Pre-Nuptial and Post-Nuptial Agreements, many of which have a cross-border or international dimension. I regularly present seminars on issues relating to asset protection and financial provision on divorce and have written articles for various legal publications. I am a member of the Family Law Association in Scotland and also of Resolution. Chambers UK Guide indicates that I am recognised as a "really constructive" lawyer who "always knows exactly what she's doing." One source comments:"By virtue of her brilliance, I'd be happy to refer anything to her. She's so sharp, clever and practical." I graduated from Aberdeen University in 1997 with an LLB (Hons) and Diploma in Legal Practice. I trained at Loudons WS, remaining there after qualifying. In 2001, I joined Turcan Connell where I was assumed as a Partner in April 2006. I remained with Turcan Connell until May 2012 at which time I joined HBJ Gateley as a Partner and Head of Family Law.
