The BPNA is the professional association for doctors who specialise in paediatric neurology. It is a charity (number 1159115) with the aim of improving the care of children with neurological disorders by providing training, education and professional support to the doctors who care for them, and promoting research. BPNA annual turnover is just under £1 million and it employs 10 staff based in Bolton and London. Each year BPNA short-courses are delivered worldwide to >2,500 paediatricians and nurse by >300 paediatric neurologists and paediatricians, who give their time voluntarily to develop course materials and teach. Courses are funded by different means in different countries - grants, sponsorship, fees. The BPNA online paediatric neurology e-learning programme has enrolments in >70 countries. The course content is developed by teams of volunteer experts working worldwide, each specialising in specific neurological topics. The first BPNA Paediatric Neurology Research Fellow was appointed 2015, with co-funding from Action Medical Research. The second will be appointed in 2019. BPNA Professional Support includes mentoring, special interest groups, clinical governance.
