About Philippe Picard

It’s said that change is the only constant in life. For me, the desire to learn and to grow, to venture into new areas and embrace change, has been my defining characteristic. Far from shrinking from change, I am inspired by it. My career is proof of this. After almost ten years working and managing restaurant operations in renowned establishments in Montreal, I made the difficult decision to leave the industry and explore a new path. This led me to return to school to pursue university studies in international relations and, ultimately, obtain a Master’s degree from the Munk School of Global Affairs. Since graduating in 2018, I am again embracing new challenges in my current role in financial crimes investigation at Scotiabank. In my graduate program, I applied these skills to projects that involved pressing real-world issues and challenges, working on team projects to generate recommendations that would have a tangible impact. In the restaurant industry, I developed practical leadership and project management skills – motivating and inspiring the team, managing time and resources efficiently, and earning my reputation as the one “who gets things done.” Through these experiences, I’ve learned that I am highly adaptable, a fast learner, a critical thinker and an effective problem solver. I am excited about continuing to evolve in my career in either the public or private sectors, applying my passion and perseverance to embrace new challenges and solve problems that I care about.
