About Phillip Cox

I'm currently the Executive Director of the Diverse Student Leadership Initiative at the University of New Mexico. I'm also serving as the Executive Director of the Mr. and Miss. Black UNM Scholarship. I have a long track record of service to both my community ad my country dating back to 2009 as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Before this, I served as the Student Body President of both Central New Mexico Community College and Rose State College managing the quality of life and support mechanism of student life for some student collectively. I've work outside of these organizations to bring additional opportunities to students while address a myriad of problems and issues that face my constituents on any given day. I excel at team building and problem solving, be it communication or anything that inhibits progress towards a common goal. Separating all aspects of a potential problem or barrier, breaking them down into manageable expectations and effectively solving them is something I honestly feel no one can do better than myself. I'm a high school graduate from Louisville Kentucky, spent four years in the U.S.M.C, got out and went to school at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Then went to Central New Mexico Community College where I earn enough credits to transfer to the University of New Mexico, now I'm on track to graduate with a Bachelors of Arts in Communication with a focus on Corporate and Strategic Communication. I'm looking for opportunities in public relations and community outreach, bridging the social gaps that may exists between a company and the public around them. Not everyone knows how to interact with their base of customers and clients and sometimes, having that professional that can give them the right and appropriate information cna really make all the difference.
