About Phillip Markert

In the 25 years that I have been professionally developing software and leading teams of people, I have discovered that while specific techniques for engineering, design, and leadership have modernized, it is the underlying character of a team that is one of the biggest contributors to the success of an organization. One of my favorite challenges is to cultivate a healthy and engaged team, operating with freedom, autonomy, and trust, to undertake the joint mission of solving problems, delivering products, and thrilling stakeholders. Great software requires part science, part artisanship, and a whole lot of passion. My primary work objective is to lead others by example, experience, and innovation to build up amazing software engineering teams, delivering first-class technology solutions that solve real business problems, while growing individual team members towards personal and professional excellence. Below you will find some of the selected highlights from my career. There are many more adventures than those listed here, so while I cannot collapse my entire experience into a few pages, my hope is that through these examples, you may catch a glimpse of the energy, integrity, skill, and character that have enabled me to lead others, build amazing teams, and develop highly scalable, reliable software systems. Although most of my focus is spent on the leadership, direction, architecture, and strategies for building teams and products, I still have a passion for writing and debugging code.
