About Phillip Monaghan

After completing my PhD in protein biochemistry at the University of Leicester I commenced my training in clinical biochemistry at Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Alder Hey and University Hospital of South Manchester. I have been a Clinical Scientist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and later Christie Pathology Partnership for over 5 years. I am honorary senior lecturer at the University of Manchester in the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, Institute of Inflammation and Repair. I am a member of the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM) Working Group for Test Evaluation (WG-TE). I am currently Deputy Chair of the Association for Clinical Biochemistry (ACB) Scientific Committee: Working Group on Traceability and Harmonisation of Calibration (WGTHC) Special interests include: test evaluation, biochemical endocrinology & neuroendocrinology. I was awarded the Silver Research Medal from the Royal College of Pathologists for my work on cortisol measurement.
