About Phillip Owen Rolls

FAICD-Fellow of Australian Institute of Company Directors FAIP- Fellow of Australian Institute of Packaging I was born in Liverpool, UK to and was brought to Australia at 15 months old. Living with my parents from Sheep stations to dairy farms. I wanted to do law, but fate joined me as a management trainee, for an Insurance company,later becoming an Inspector/Surveyor for the company, a role I remained in for the next 8 years. Whilst here I was approached by the Director of a plastics co.(later acquired by AMCOR), who offered me the role of General Manager, a new industry for me. However, during my years here, I was constantly observing the market and feeling gripped by the notion of its innovative possibilities. Motivated by the industry’s potential I resigned as Beaver Plastic’s general manager and set up my own company, RollsPack Pty Ltd. It began as all small companies do, with next to nothing. It consisted of a small factory, completely empty except for a small desk and an old radiator which provided little relief in the depths of winter. Today that company is Australia’s leading manufacturer for flexible packaging, with state-of-the-art factories in China and Melbourne, plus offices & warehouses in Sydney, and NZ. This led to RollsPack being one of the first Australian companies to utilise flexographic digital printing, manufacture tamper evident satchels, and construct box-bottom stand-up pouches for food packaging. With the exception of AMCOR, we are also the only Australian company to own a Gravure printing press and Flexographic printing presses, along with Lamination and hi speed slitting machines. We consequently won Industry awards Gold and Silver for Gravure Printing and Flexographic printing, and Best in Show for years 2017,2018, 4 Awards in 2019 & 2 Gold awards in 2021.an appreciation and acknowledgement of the skill and dedication of our staff. Throughout my career best practice and innovation have been at the forefront of every decision. An attitude that played a vital role in turning RollsPack from an empty warehouse in Cheltenham to an international organisation. Our journey continues as we utilise new technologies,innovation & Ai to add value and savings to our customers, which excites me.thinking laterally! I love this journey as a SME/MME that punches above its weight. Being an Australian family owned company and a proud Australian manufacturer, who embraces Asia, Europe & USA as we should.as the world is so small now and we learn from each other. I love this journey of ours.and, I would do this all for nothing!
