About Phillip Pavlich

Since my first year of engineering at McMaster University, I became fascinated with the endless possibilities of what modern day technology can do. I developed a passion for software development and I embrace the challenges that it brings me every day. Ever since, I have been motivated to grow my technical skills and build a strong foundation for myself. Software engineering taught me how to be a great problem solver, work well under pressure, and manage time constraints. From a technical perspective, it gave me the theory that I needed to be effective in this industry. I also learned how to build good quality designs and focus on architecting solutions that follow well-established design practices. The management add-on to my degree taught me valuable business skills that help me to draw relationships between business use cases and the software development life cycle. Throughout my schooling, I had the privilege of interning at both Kira Systems and NexgenRx. Both of these opportunities taught me valuable life lessons and gave me exposure in the tech industry. Post grad, I got a position as a software developer at Modern Campus. At Modern Campus, I was able to achieve the feat of raising through the ranks to the role of team lead within less than 5 years. Through hard work, eagerness to learn, strong problem solving, willingness to ask questions, and being a team player, I was able to grow my skillset considerably during this period and become an effective leader. Through these past experiences, I have developed a strong technical foundation that allows me to thrive in a development role while demonstrating the ability to lead and mentor fellow coworkers. I consistently look for ways that we can optimize processes and I am always looking on how I can improve (both personally and with my team).
