About Phillip Sayers

As a graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science, I have been a (NSCA-CPT)National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer for 10 years. Since I was young I have been an exercise and nutrition enthusiast, excelling in high school athletics as an all-state athlete and competing in amateur bodybuilding while in college. While attending Western Michigan I worked as an associate of the natural health food store. I was fortunate enough to intern with Chris Johnson, head trainer at the MAC, at Bronson Athletic Club. I was taught the importance of progression while training clients and nutrition is the key to people reaching their weight-loss goals. After college I started personal training at the Livonia Rec Center. I quickly became the most popular and most profitable trainer, earning approximately 47% of the revenue of a 8 member staff. I was hired by Healthfitness in 2005 as a health fitness specialist and was promoted to program manager in 2010. I endured multiple changes throughout the years, with different liaisons and owners. I managed a small staff that was responsible for a approx 900 members, which included performing fitness assessments, developing and teaching group exercise classes and personal training. I also was in charge of employee scheduling, processing payroll, interviewing/hiring potential employees and marketing.
