About Phillip Smith

I have over 35 years of experience in the building and construction industry, specialising in strategic leadership across Environment, Health, Safety & Quality (EHSQ) and Information Technology (IT). Since joining SHAPE in 2005, I’ve helped drive our culture of safety, innovation, and operational excellence. With my strong background in construction and Workplace Health and Safety, I’ve led numerous transformative initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency. This has included the adoption of new technologies and streamlining administrative processes to deliver measurable business improvements. Throughout my career, I’ve delivered challenging projects of various sizes, strengthening my leadership in EHSQ and IT management. I prioritise collaboration to achieve the best outcomes with my team, clients, subcontractors, consultants, and key stakeholders. As part of SHAPE’s commitment to environmental responsibility, I’m currently leading our sustainability strategy, with a focus on climate change, carbon reduction initiatives, and embedding ESG principles into our daily operations. Beyond SHAPE, I actively contribute to industry advancement through roles with the NSW Asbestos & Hazmat Removal Contractors Association, the Asbestos Education Committee, and the OFSC Industry Reference Group. ABOUT SHAPE: We are an ASX-listed leader in fitout and construction services with a 685-strong team Australia-wide.
