About Phillip Stothard
An experienced mining industry academic and research and development professional. I pioneered the development of mining industry virtual and augmented reality simulation in the early and led diverse teams and projects relating to advanced virtual reality, equipment simulator development and their integration into operations. My research interests include the transfer of VR, AR, MR technologies and the Mining Metaverse into more advanced mining operational activities to assist with achieving sustainable mining practices. I am also very interested in automation technologies for mine site monitoring and geoscience activities. I am a committee member of the ISO and Standards Australia and contribute to international committees for sustainable VR, AR, MR and Metaverse development.
