About Phoebe Pua

I have 9 years of experience in higher education, spanning academic research, teaching, administration, and business development. At SMU, I facilitate strategic partnerships bridging industry, government, and academia. I also lead development of the SMU Partnerships Concierge, a new platform designed to create a seamless experience for potential partners interested in our university's suite of collaboration opportunities. Additionally, I support the Vice President of Partnerships & Engagement to expand SMU's reach and impact, both within Singapore and on the international stage.Prior to joining SMU in 2023, I was a PhD candidate researching media and culture in Southeast Asia. I received the NUS Research Scholarship and President’s Graduate Fellowship, as well as three Graduate Student’s Teaching Awards. Alongside my work in higher education, I am independent film programmer for arts and film organizations in Singapore and internationally. In recent years, I collaborated with Singapore Art Museum, Objectifs Centre for Film and Photography, International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan, and more. Since 2022, I serve as Mentor of the Singapore International Film Festival’s annual Youth Critics Program and Editor of its film magazine, ATLAS.
