About Phoenix Menday

After emerging from my Bachelor of Science as a fresh-faced microbiology graduate, I always assumed my keen eye for detail and project management would serve me well in the laboratory setting. However, I also feared my passion for communication and storytelling might be lost amongst the test tubes and microscopes. Somewhat serendipitously, my love of content creation and connecting people landed me in a marketing role of a tech start-up and my love affair with all things marketing began. From crafting that perfect marketing email to watching a social media campaign launch into the stratosphere, I was hooked. This drove me to go back to university and complete my dual Masters in Biotechnology and Business. My scientist's soul would be fed by continuing on my study of the natural world, but my new joie de vivre would have me focus on all things marketing; from content creation and consumer behaviour to crisis management and integrated marketing communications. During my studies, I began work at another fledgeling start-up as a Community Manager. This allowed me to flex my creative and strategic muscles, with my key responsibilities including writing daily content, creating both print and digital marketing campaigns, events planning, networking and marketing analysis. Coupled with my burgeoning marketing studies, my fate was sealed as a passionate and driven marketing professional. I relocated from Sydney, Australia to Toronto, Ontario in February 2018 to be closer to my partner's family, as well as expand my career internationally. When I am not devising that perfect marketing strategy, I am usually in the kitchen, experimenting with a new recipe or kitchen gadget, for which I have a slight obsession. I am also an avid traveller, reader, video gamer and animal person! I love making new connections and finding the perfect solution to a complex problem, so drop me a line and let me work my magic!
