About Pierre Morandi

Technology evolves quickly, offering every day new solutions for problems or needs. I’m personally concerned with the idea to use the maximum of existing technologies (computer, smartphone, camera, display device etc.) in order to enhance or even develop new Technics (instrumentation, production, analysis, etc.). I had the possibility to practice that idea in the academic field ( PHD in mechanical engineering) and then in the industry (R&D technology leader in optical analysis Technics). My first experience (3 years) was for academic research, and gave me the opportunity to use my curiosity and creativity in the Pprime Institute laboratory. The developed system was a success and offers today new Full-field & time-resolved deformation analysis in the bulk. This system called ORST (Optical Rotating Scanning Tomography) is still used for research applications. My second experience (since Oct. 2014) takes advantage to the first one. Now working for industrial application, I’m using research experiences and knowledge to develop specific embedded high technology measurement system for Rhopoint Instruments Ltd.(UK). My first mission was to design and program (C++) the optical measurement technology of a new appearance measurement instrument. Then over the time, I finally took the responsibility of the project development, interacting more and more with contributors around (design, electronic, marketing etc.).
