About Piotr Sinkiewicz

Santander Consumer Bank Management Board Member - holding a position of Chief Risk Officer at the same time. I have 25 years of experience in risk management, where I find success or failure in banks’ development – depending on how much emphasis is placed on the area. My mission is to participate actively in financial services market growth in Poland and also the development of effective and innovative tools for risk management My field of expertise covers: the banking market, financial market regulations both in Poland and in Europe, expertise in risk management, statistical modeling and risk valuation, leadership. I consider as my success - the following facts: I created – together with my team – the system of risk management for Lukas Bank – from the scratch, Together with my team – during the crisis of 2008/2009 – I was launching and then supervising the debt collection call center in Wroclaw – what contributed to both efficient and effective decrease of the risk cost during the crisis time, I initiated and then supervised the process of selling bank receivables, implementing pioneering projects in this field, I joined Santander Consumer Bank’s Management Board as an outside person. I am proud that despite the fact that my working methods were quite different from those used so far, risk team’s engagement and Risk Pro attitude orientation have remained at a high level. When managing the team I always bet on being a supportive leader, what means to show the direction of action and give freedom in the way the goal is achieved. Thanks to that approach, the team feels more responsible but at the same time knows that can address me with any problem at any time. I represent the following values: trust, openness to others’ opinions, ability to listen and understand the other person’s point of view, respect for others, being available for people, diversity of gender, opinions, approach. I believe that we can get more value when the team is more diverse. My personal trait that helps me manage such a responsible area of operation is - keeping calm attitude regardless of the scale of the problem.
