About Pippa Davis

Pippa has a 40-year career in the performing arts ranging across the artistic and management spheres. Initially she made and produced works for theatre and television including design, technical and production management with her company, Scene Stealers WA. Since then she has worked in areas as diverse as venue design, venue management, local government and venue operations. Currently Pippa is freelancing, working on various projects. Her major focus is working with Renato Fabretti to incorporate Fremantle Theatre Company and prepare to launch a new season of works. She is also working with Renato to manage Victoria Hall and activate the space with events both commercial and community. Her other projects are managing performance opportunities and tours for clients, including the Sue Bluck Quartet and Sandpiper Productions. Other experience: In 1994 she worked with the architects to design an efficient and cost effective major upgrade of the Regal Theatre, installing a new stage, technical equipment and significantly upgraded backstage facilities for productions and shop frontages in this heritage listed venue. This work increased the operational and financial viability and life span of the theatre. In she moved into arts and venue management and managed the Walkington Theatre in Karratha for 8 years. Returning to Perth she worked as Artistic Coordinator, Production and Tour Manager for Black Swan State Theatre Company. She became General Manager of Buzz Dance Theatre, managing the amalgamation of Buzz with Steps Youth Dance Company to form CO3. As Operations Manager at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre she implemented systems upgrades and improvements in workflow. She ran the Regional Venue Improvement project, applying for and overseeing the installation of a million dollars of upgrades. As Manager Arts and Culture for City of Karratha Pippa moved to the Pilbara in 2017, with the major task being the delivery and opening of the Red Earth Arts Precinct (REAP). The venue presents performing arts in the theatre and external performance space of local, national and international touring productions. It also operates as the city’s cinema, as well as fulfilling multipurpose roles as the city’s town hall supporting conferences, meetings, dance studios, city library and art gallery. She was the client liaison for the last 8 months of the build working to complete the fit-out and commissioning of the building. She created the opening events, programmed shows, trained staff, managed the venue and defects period and set the ongoing agenda.
