About Polly Brasher

Polly Brasher is the Executive Director of the Inland Waterways Museum in Paducah, Kentucky, where many changes are on the horizon. She joined the Paducah community after serving sixteen years on the Discovery Park of America project, finishing there as the Senior Director of Education and Guest Experience. She had previously served on the Obion County Museum Board and then as the Founding Director during the design and build phases of Discovery Park. These positions followed twenty-five years of teaching various levels of Art, English, Speech, Journalism, and Drama in both the public and private sectors. As a teacher, she traveled with her rural students in order to give them a chance to see the art, architecture, culture, and museums of locations bigger than home. Polly has served her community through theater, dance, church, judging art competitions, and volunteering with rehabilitation programs. She currently serves as the Past-President of the Tennessee Association of Museums, as a trustee for the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association, as the Chairman of the Ohio Valley Christian Camp board, and previously as a board member for the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. She is happy to be in Paducah, Kentucky where she enjoys her work and the variety of experiences offered here but also looks forward to becoming more involved in community projects.
