About Porter Goebel

I am a junior at Auburn University's College of Business Majoring in Accounting. I work hard on my schoolwork for good grades and have made it on to the dean's list three times so far at Auburn. I am currently searching for an internship that will help me use the knowledge from my classes and learn to apply it in a real business setting. I would like to work in Huntsville at one of the missile defense agencies on the arsenal. Skills: I'm a hard worker, a fast learner, an achiever, have strong discipline and professionalism. Experience: I have worked as both a raft guide at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. While working there I learned a lot of interpersonal skills because I had to meet two new groups of people each day and keep them entertained for the two hours per group that we were on the river and the bus ride up there. This job also taught me to be adaptable. Every day we had to work with different groups and so every groups' style of rafting was different and I had to cater to their needs and make the trip enjoyable for them. I also worked on my public speaking skills while working at the raft center because I had to give a presentation on all the gear and safety tips to the groups of people that were going down the river without a professional. Finally, the job taught me about being a leader because I had to command many different groups of people to get them to listen to me even though some of them didn't want to like the camp kids. I have also worked for H.C. Blake Co. Inc. as a warehouse worker. There I learned about working as a team because I had to go out on many jobs with the specialists to help them fix plumbing and electrical issues. I also learned a lot about being a leader because I was in charge of two other kids my age when we were working at the warehouse because it was my job to lead them in organizing the warehouse and the yard where they stored a lot of their materials.
