About Prabhakar Jayaprakash

I took a turn to social work from computer science, while working as a volunteer in the Tsunami relief operation in 2005. The inspiration from that work and experience in working with Eelam Tamil refugees made me to choose this field as my career. The fieldwork for three years at the bottom of the hierarchy of civil societies made me to realize the need for strong theoretical base. The master degree in social work helped me to gain eclectic knowledge base, wide range of skills, philosophical underpinnings, and realise my interest areas. The Endeavour Fellowship to Australia introduced me to the field of social research. My experience in working with the State Planning Commission of Tamil Nadu increased my understanding on policy research. The pre-doctoral degree at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences enriched my knowledge on various theories and perspectives. I have completed my doctoral defense and working as research engineer at the French Institute of Pondicherry. Currently, my research focus is on the AMR and industrial shrimp farming. My areas of expertise are program designing, planning, monitoring and evaluation, social research, and documentation.
