Professor of Psychiatry | Team member, VKN NIMHANS ECHO, NIMHANS e Learning & Addiction Rx App | Digital Knowledge Democratizer in Addiction & Mental Health I am a professor of psychiatry at NIMHANS and have over a two decades of experience in addictive disorders. My mission is to democratize evidence-based knowledge in addictive disorders by leveraging digital technology. I believe that access to high-quality education and resources can transform care delivery, bridge treatment gaps, and empower healthcare professionals and communities nationwide. My team has several digital health initiatives, including the development of the NIMHANS ECHO tele-mentoring platform, Addiction Rx mobile app, and NIMHANS eLearning Hub. These platforms have collectively impacted thousands of healthcare professionals in India by offering accessible, reliable, and evidence-based learning and support. Key Achievements: Team member NIMHANS ECHO: Launched tele-mentoring programs that have trained over healthcare professionals in tobacco cessation, alcohol use disorders, other addictive disorders.through weekly case-based learning and peer discussions. Creator of Addiction Rx for doctors: Developed a mobile app for physicians to support the effective management of addiction. The app integrates evidence-based tools, screening measures, and clinical guidelines. Digital Health Innovator: Designed and implemented self-paced online learning modules through nimhanselearning.org to provide anytime, anywhere learning opportunities. These MOOCs have reached over 1,800 learners and received excellent feedback. Researcher and Mentor: Led and published research on the impact of health interventions on addiction care. Mentored numerous healthcare professionals through ECHO programs and clinical case consultations. Vision: My team at VKN envisions a world where every individual, regardless of their location, has access to quality care for addictive disorders by trained and skilled healthcare professionals. This is an attempt to bridge the knowledge gap between urban and rural healthcare providers and improve addictive disorder health outcomes on a national scale.
