About Pragyan Agarwal
I am a lawyer with an LL.M. in international law from the University of Cambridge. I spent three years working as a researcher with the Centre for WTO Studies, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. I provided legal and policy advise to the government for various bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations on multiple issues including intellectual property rights, SMEs, trade and gender, innovation and e-commerce. I was part of India's negotiating team for the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, India-UK Free Trade Agreement, India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, India-EU Free Trade Agreement and India-EU Geographical Indications Agreement. I was also part of the working group constituted to negotiate WTO's response to the pandemic at the 12th Ministerial Conference of the WTO. Apart from law, I am interested in Geo-economics, Geo-politics and History. At a broader level I am keen to understand how civilisational identities of nations influence their policies and politics.
