My research interests include Language and Speech Technologies. I work for Text-to-Speech Synthesis System (TTS) and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system for Indian Languages. Currently I am working on two MeitY Sponsored Projects: 1. “Development of Text-to-Speech Synthesis System in Indian Languages: High quality text to speech synthesis and small footprint TTS” (A twelve institute consortium effort, Headed by IIT Madras) The Objective of project is to develop HMM based high quality small footprint TTS system for 13 Indian Languages.2. Citizen Contact Centre The objective of this project is to deliver non-emergency (Informational and Transactional) Government to Citizen Services over the phone with the help of a single unique number across the country. The project envisages use of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), automatic query identification, customer relationship systems, and Text-to-Speech Synthesis System (TTS) to enhance the effectiveness and responsiveness further. It is envisaged that many of the queries from citizens will be answered automatically through use of these technologies, reducing the dependence on human agents.
